Hello and welcome to The Book and the Bea!

We started this site after many, many conversations with people on the hunt for the perfect book for the little ones in their lives. I don't think there's an occasion that doesn't call for a book - births, birthdays, christenings, heartbreak - but the problems is always, which book to get? Which book gets the message just right? Which book won't be given by five other relatives? Which book will kids adore and, most importantly, won't drive their parents insane (I'm looking at you Green Sheep)?

We decided that what the world needs now (apart from love) is another blog.

But not just any blog! A blog to share stories, celebrate books and, most importantly, take the stress out of your present buying adventures.

Childrens’ books have a kind of magic. Sure, the good ones encourage your kids to read. But the really good ones get you too, with a cheeky wink or a tightness in your throat. Those really special books are treasured as much by parents as by kids and we know just where to find them!

So grab a hot chocolate, curl up and enjoy.
